The Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (A.R.T.), will celebrate the 27th Anniversary of New York Archives Week, October 14-21, 2015, with special commemorative activities throughout the New York City metropolitan area.  New York Archives Week is an annual celebration aimed at informing the general public of the diverse array of archival materials available in the metropolitan New York City region.

Among the many activities free and open to the public will be open houses, lectures, workshops and behind-the-scenes tours of archives throughout the city. These special events are designed to celebrate the importance of historical records and to familiarize interested organizations and the public with a wealth of fascinating archival materials illuminating centuries of New York City history and culture.

A.R.T. has three signature events for New York Archives Week, which include celebratory, educational and outreach initiatives, all important to A.R.T.'s mission:

  • The A.R.T. Awards Ceremony, the only awards program in the metropolitan New York City region dedicated to honoring the work of archivists and those who support archival programs.
  • The K-12 Archives Education Institute (AEI), designed to bring together 35 local K-12 educators and archivists to discuss strategies for teaching with primary source materials.
  • A Symposium, an all-day event with single theme, on a timely topic.
