The Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (A.R.T.) is organizing a one-day symposium during the 2014 New York Archives Week. The topic this year is Financial Institutions and Archives. This encompasses not just financial institutions such as banks, but also organizations that maintain or have inherited financial records.
- What happens when an institution or archives inherits financial records? Or when banks merge or absorb other banks?
- How is the environment of financial archives changing?
- What are the biggest challenges that financial institutions and archives face?
- What are the current best practices?
The day will focus on presentations and panel discussions, strategies, research, analyses, and use studies with the aim of bringing together archivists, industry experts, records managers, librarians, museum professionals, professors, scholars, academic researchers and the general public.
