The Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York (A.R.T.) is pleased to announce the following programming event:

Going CLIR: A Showcase of Recent Hidden Collections Cataloging Projects in New York

WHEN
Wednesday, June 3rd
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

WHERE
Metropolitan New York Library Council

57 East 11th Street, Fourth Floor
New York, NY 10003

WHAT
From 2008 through 2014, with support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) administered a seminal grant program, "Cataloging Hidden Special Collections and Archives," that enabled institutions across the U.S. to catalog historically significant archival collections that had long been hidden from the scholarly community, and to make these collections available for research.

Join us as we hear from archivists at three New York City institutions that were recent beneficiaries of the CLIR hidden collections award:

Brooklyn Historical Society

Project: City, Borough, Neighborhood, Home: Mapping Brooklyn’s Twentieth-Century Urban Identity

Speakers: Lisa Miller, Map Cataloger; John Zarrillo, Processing Archivist

La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club

Project: Cataloging La MaMa's Pushcart Years: A Unique History of the Off-Off Broadway Theatre Movement

Speakers: Rachel Mattson, Project Manager; Ozzie Rodriguez, Director of Archives

Museum of the City of New York
and Queens Museum

Project: Discovering the Future: The New York World’s Fairs Collections of 1939 and 1964 at the Museum of the City of New York and the Queens Museum of Art

Speakers: Richard J. Lee, Queens Museum Archivist; Annie Tummino, Project Archivist
