New York Public Radio Archives Tour and NEH Grant Progress Report
New York Public Radio Archives
Join us for a tour of our offices followed by a first-year progress report on the 2015 WNYC Audio Preservation and Access Project, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Upon completion, more than 580 hours of vintage radio broadcast material relevant to the humanities will be digitized, cataloged, and available to listeners at http://www.wnyc.org/series/neh-preservation-project.
The programs include voices of presidents, dignitaries, world leaders, artistic revolutionaries, musical geniuses, literati, and cultural icons — culled from 13,000 lacquer transcription discs and 10,000 tapes in the NYC Municipal Archives' WNYC collection. The sounds of a city and a nation are captured through nearly a century of broadcast recordings.
Capacity is limited to 15 guests for each tour. To RSVP, please email Ana Marie at acox@nypublicradio.org before 3pm on Thursday October 20th. Indicate if you're attending the 10:30AM or 3PM tour.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to allow for check-in at the security desk, where you will be required to present a photo ID.
