See How They Ran: Presidential Elections and Ephemeral Materials

Roosevelt House at Hunter College

A tour of the fall exhibition: "See How They Ran: Treasures from the New-York Historical Society," which also draws on the collections of additional repositories to look at presidential elections from 1860 to the present with a special focus on the four campaigns of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the changing media used by candidates to attract votes. From posters, pins and bumper stickers to radio, television and twitter, visitors will find familiar and innovative means of promotion by the men - and growing number of women - seeking the presidency. Informal reception to follow. RSVP required.
