We're back! After a winter hiatus, community hours have returned. The board of the Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York invites you to join us by checking in with colleagues, sharing tips for remote work and maintaining emotional well-being, and discussing how we can navigate these ongoing challenges and support each other. We will convene for an evening break on Zoom and Twitter via #ARTCommunityHours. We won't have an agenda but are eager to hear how our community is being impacted and what kinds of support will be most useful to our members.
Over the past year, the New York City archives community, like the rest of the city, has adapted to this new reality of social isolation. This has meant juggling remote work and caregiving for some; displacement and precarity for others. Recent events have catalyzed a reckoning within the field regarding longstanding structures of white supremacy and the urgent need to comprehensively integrate anti-racist practices. The need for solidarity and creative problem-solving in support of institutions and individuals who have been impacted has never been greater.
We welcome archival workers from throughout the area - regardless of membership status - to join us in connecting with community along with a respectful and supportive circle of colleagues. Please register in advance, as the Zoom password will be emailed to participants on the day of the meeting.
