Event Title: Letterpress Workshop: 500 Years of Printing in One Hour. 


Event Summary: Join us at the South Street Seaport Museum for 500 Years of Printing in One Hour. Using objects and equipment from the Museum’s collection, Bowne Printers will take us through the history of printing from Gutenberg to the New York Times. In this workshop we will see demonstrations of several letterpresses, pull a print from the press, and learn the New York printing story.


This is an in-person event, limited to 20 people (A.R.T. Members only).

Please meet the group leader at the Titanic Memorial Lighthouse at 1:45 PM. The workshop will begin promptly at 2:00 PM.

{Workshop instruction is very time sensitive. People arriving over 15 minutes late will not be permitted to participate. No open-toe shoes allowed.}


Afterwards, feel free to explore the South Street Seaport Museum located at 12 Fulton Street. General Admission is free and includes access to their indoor galleries and self guided tours of tall ship Wavertree. Learn more about their current offerings here.


Subways: Take the A, C, 2, 3, J, Z, 4, or 5 train to Fulton Street.
