Theatre Library Association presents its 44th Annual Book Awards, as part of a gala celebration in honor of the 75th Anniversary of its founding. The festivities will also include the presentation of this year’s award for Distinguished Service in Performing Arts Librarianship, the Brooks McNamara Performing Arts Librarian Scholarship, and a salute to Theatre Library Association’s beginnings in 1937, culminating with a musical performance by special guest Ralph William Boone.
The presentation will take place promptly at 6:oo p.m. A champagne reception will follow. The George Freedley Memorial Award will be presented to Jonathan Kalb, author of Great Lengths: Seven Works of Marathon Theatre (University of Michigan Press). A Special Jury Prize in this category will be presented to Steven Serafin, editor of BAM: The Complete Works (Brooklyn Academy of Music in association with The Quantuck Lane Press). The Richard Wall Memorial Award will be presented to Christopher Sieving, author of Soul Searching: Black Themed Cinema from the March on Washington to the Rise of Blaxploitation (Wesleyan University Press).
A Special Jury Prie in this category will be presented to Susan Orlean, author of Rin Tin Tin: The Life and the Legend (Simon & Schuster). The award for Distinguished Service in Performing Arts Librarianship will be presented to Nena Couch, Curator of the Lawrence and Lee Theatre Research Institute at Ohio State University. The Brooks McNamara Performing Arts Librarian Scholarship will be presented to Lisbeth Wells-Pratt of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
