Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (A.R.T.) will celebrate the 25th anniversary of New York Archives Week October 6-12, 2013. New York Archives Week events include lectures, repository tours, symposia and workshops, all free and open to the public. These events are designed to raise the public’s awareness of the importance of preserving and making accessible our documentary heritage. New York Archives Week is attended by hundreds of New York City residents and archival and information science professionals each year, and is A.R.T.’s primary outreach initiative.
New York Archives Week’s premier event is the A.R.T Awards Ceremony, the only awards program in the metropolitan New York area dedicated to honoring the work of archivists and recognizing those institutions and individuals who provide vital support to archival programs. This Awards Ceremony is crucial to our professional community, as these awards help strengthen relationships between New York City archivists and their supporters, and provide an opportunity for archivists from all over New York City to be acknowledged by their colleagues. In this spirit, A.R.T. is pleased to announce its 2013 award honorees:
Outstanding Support of Archives
New York Archives Conference
to be accepted by Geoffrey Williams
Innovative Use of Archives
Rhizome for ArtBase
to be accepted by Heather Corcoran and Ben Fino-Radin
Archival Achievement
Peter Wosh
Educational Use of Archives
Brooklyn Historical Society for
Students and Faculty in the Archives
Robin M. Katz and Julie Golia
The awards ceremony will be held at the Junior League of the City of New York on Thursday, October 10, 2013. We are expecting more than 100 guests and are poised for a memorable evening.
We will be issuing Commemorative Journals containing celebratory wishes for our honorees and advertisements from the broader professional community. Including a message in the commemorative journal is an effective way to publish a statement to an honoree or to promote your business to the New York archives community. You may view the 2012 journal on the ART website.
We are introducing a new
online form for advertisement uploads and online payment option via the A.R.T. website. You should first "register" on the A.R.T. website by choosing an option for inclusion on journal and method of payment, as well as fill out the online form and upload art and/or copy.
NOTE: If you are an ART member taking out an ad for your organization/company please register for journal inclusion without signing on to your ART membership; create a new profile for the congratulatory message or ad. If you are an ART member who is simply sending a congratulatory message from yourself or your sole proprietorship company/consultancy owned by you, you may use your ART membership profile already in place.
If you have any issues with the form or online payment, please email
development@nycarchivists.org
If you have general questions about the ART Awards Ceremony, please email ART Awards Chair, Bonnie Marie Sauer
awards@nycarchivists.org
Please act quickly, all journal ads must be received by by Monday, September 30, 2013.
Thank you in advance for your support.
